Polarity

client: Autel Robotics

roles: co-director, lead editor, bts camera-op

circa: 2019

notes: Polarity is an award-winning short film that I co-directed with Tim Matthews during my time at Autel Robotics as their head of post-production and creative team manager.

This project explores duality with a multifaceted approach, from the production itself to the storyline. Polarity is shot half with an Autel EVO drone using Autel’s Live Deck and half with RED Cinema Cameras. Narratively, Polarity deals with the internal push-pull of cognitive dissonance, stillness and movement, discipline and freedom.

This film showcases Autel’s products in a non-traditional way, and all included a behind-the-scenes counterpart that went more into the details of production (see below)

Polarity was crafted in collaboration with Hand Crank Films and Moment Films.
